Thoofan (2.0) Panchayat-Level Activities Launched

Operation Thoofan – Phase II
The State-level inauguration of the grassroots anti-drug public movement through Local Self-Government Institutions, under Operation Thoofan – Phase II, was held on 28 September 2026 at 11.00 a.m. at A.R. Nagar Grama Panchayat, Malappuram District, and was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala.
In connection with the state-level inauguration, a programme was organised at Chaliyar Grama Panchayat at 11.00 a.m. The programme commenced with the Hoisting of the Thoofan Flag by the Hon’ble Panchayat President, Smt. Anusree.
The function was welcomed by Smt. Achamma Joseph, Chairperson, Development Standing Committee, and presided over by the Hon’ble Vice President, Sri. Thonikkadavan Shoukath.
The Thoofan Pledge was administered by Sri. Manoj, Head Clerk, Chaliyar Grama Panchayat. The Thoofan Warrior Declaration was made by the Hon’ble Chairperson of the Health and Education Standing Committee.
The distribution of badges to the Thoofan Warriors was carried out by Smt. Manju Anil, Chairperson, Welfare Standing Committee.
Ward Members Sri. Thomas Kuruvila, Sri. Basheer Kattumunda and Sri. Sahal offered felicitations and addressed the gathering.
Smt. Sunitha N., Assistant Sub-Inspector, Nilambur Police Station, conducted the awareness session as part of the programme.
A total of 111 participants who attended the programme were declared Thoofan Warriors of Chaliyar Grama Panchayat.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by the Hon’ble Panchayat Secretary, following which the proceedings of the meeting came to an end.
The programme witnessed active participation from elected representatives, Panchayat employees, Kudumbashree members, Haritha Karma Sena workers, students, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, youth, teachers, service pensioners, members of voluntary organisations and the general public.
The active and enthusiastic participation of various sections of the community reflected the collective commitment of the people of Chaliyar Grama Panchayat towards building a drug-free society.
